Hi, Rob! According to the report, seventeen percent of a whole year's carbon dioxide from traffic would be offset if all the verges were planted with trees. I believe this is a good figure and shows that trees can and do lessen carbon dioxide levels. Just think of how much carbon dioxide the trees will offset in twenty years. I'd rather have a roadside with trees than one where there's nothing but concrete. Never mind the argument if trees are good carbon dioxide "sinks" or not. The Earth needs trees and it is a fact that they do process carbon dioxide from the air. If people can't help but drive cars, then they should also plant trees.
