Ah, van Leeuwen and Smith - the last refuge of the anti-nuclear zealot. For all those who quote them and their non-peer reviewed report I ask the following question: please explain why, when their equations for the energy cost of extracting uranium are applied to existing mines, do they overestimate the energy cost by an order of magnitude or more. For the Rossing mine in Namibia they predict more energy is used to mine and mill the uranium than is required by the rest of the country. Palpable nonsense.
